Kime no Kata/Kodokan Goshin Jutsu Clinic Portland, OR November 16, 2024

Over the weekend Coach Clayton drove up to Portland to attend a kata clinic. The clinic was held at the Seiwakan Judojo. The clinic focused on the the two self-defense kata in Judo; Kime no Kata (Forms of Decision) and Kodokan Goshin Jutsu (Kodokan Modern Forms of Self-Defense). We had to choose one of the two to study that day and I went with Kime no Kata.

The two clinicians were just back from the IJF World Kata Championships from the previous week. Karen Nagai and Diane Jackson were very knowledgeable and put on a great clinic. We practiced until lunch, which was provided by Seiwakan. After lunch we worked into the afternoon then there was a social event afterwards. All in all it was a great day of judo.
