United States Judo Federation National Kata Conference San Diego, CA August 9-11, 2024

Over the weekend, Shipyard Judo sent three members to the 21st National United States Judo Federation Kata Conference. Brynn, Haley, and Coach Rob trekked all the way to San Diego to get instruction from two clinicians from Germany, Sensei Wolfgang and Sensei Ulla, who as a team have medaled ten years in a row at the World Championships and are multiple time European champions. They studied two kata (forms) over the weekend: Ju no Kata (Forms of Gentleness) and Koshiki no Kata (Forms of Antiquity). All three of our Shipyard members raved about the quality of the instruction they received. Haley and Brynn are hoping to use the information they gained to win gold at the World Championships this November in Las Vegas, so stay tuned for updates!
